The facility will also be home to logistics partners for structural insulated panel (SIPs), millwork and custom build-out services and light gauge steel framing solutions.
Building a home of any size requires more than 3,000 components, numerous skills and hundreds of hand offs between phases and trades. Every component moves through at least three staging points, each with its own cost component and time effect.
Analysis of movement shows that each handling of a component at the jobsite adds 100 hours of labor cost to a project, and that vendors often considered just as an expense on a spreadsheet priced in their late position to offest delays caused during the early stages ,
The math clearly shows that the demand for more affordable housing requires a change to site processes, less handling in the logistics chain and a close more relevent relationship with the developer.
